Google Adsense - Complete Overview
Overview Adsense is a Google feature that adds advertisements to your website and you get paid when your visitors click on the links. The advertisements are paid for by users of Google Adwords (Individuals/Organisations pay Google to find advertisers and display their ads on their websites). Depending on the popularity of your ads you will be paid different amounts for each click that you get. Their are many websites that give out lists of the top paying keywords but as they are used so much and the top paying keywords change so frequently the only real way to know the top paying keywords is by paying a subscription to these sites and changing your site's content very frequently. Features When adding Adsense to your site it will lookup the page on your site and review the content, this will then display ads that are similar to your site's content. This gives the program great ease of use so even the most novice internet user can set it up on their site. You can set up Adsense by geographic region and you can even block out your competitors ads. Ad Formats Once you have signed up to Adsense you can choose which ads you would like to display on the pages of your wesbite. You can customize the ads with specific coloured borders, text, links and backgrounds. Below is a list of Ad formats that Adsense supports: Text, Image, and Video Ads: 728 x 90 Leaderboard 468 x 60 Banner 234 x 60 Banner 160 x 600 Wide Skyscraper 120 x 600 Skyscraper 120 x 240 Vertical Banner 336 x 280 Large Rectangle 300 x 250 Medium Rectangle 180 x 150 Small Rectangle 250 x 250 Square 200 x 200 Small Square 125 x 125 Button Link Units: 728 x 15 468 x 15 200 x 90 180 x 90 160 x 90 120 x 90 Adsense also currently has a referral program whereby you will only be paid when your visitors click on the links and fill in a form / signup to the site's mailing list / subscribe to the site's features. This feature expires at the end of August. Reporting Adsense has a report console that gives you statistics on your earning, it tells you how many impressions your ad has had (How many people have seen it), how many clicks your ads have had and how much you have earnt. The report console also estimates your page CTR & page eCPM. CTR - The number of link clicks divided by the number of link impressions. eCPM - The cost-per-thousand link unit impressions (equal to earnings divided by link unit impressions, then multiplied by 1000). Link eCPM is a similar statistic to standard eCPM, and it essentially reflects the approximate amount you'll earn for every 1000 links that are shown to your users). Signing Up To Adsense To sign up and become a Google Adsense publisher you simply fill in the usual registration details at the link below and you will then have to wait 2-3 days to be approved. Once this process has been completed you can then proceed to make your ads the way that you want them and add them to your site so that you can start earning from them. http://www.google.com/adsense |
